This Cedar trellis is assembled using pilot holes and cabinet screws which keeps splitting to a minimum. The wood is untreated, but a coat of clear stain or linseed oil would help keep the color from washing out. It is easy to cut down the size of the trellis with a circular saw, or you could split this into halves or quarters. I would mount these on two five-foot T posts with some heavy-duty zip ties. This is how I mounted a fan style trellis for a clematis at our home, and it has worked well. This trellis is more robust than what I have seen available at the big box stores.
